The lamp has a mercury switch inside that turns the on when hood is raised and off lowered. It was likely removed from a vehicle very early in life and has been cool, dry storage ever since. This is a vintage Ford Underwood lamp from the 1980 's. These lamps were rare when new and nearly impossible to find today.
I tested the lamp and both mercury switch work as they should. The part number of the lamp is E1TB-15550-AA. Don't miss this awesome example. The wire can simply be retracted back into the housing with a light pull and release.
The part number changed to E2TB-15550-AA the very next year so this is likely from 1981. The retractable wire works great. These Underwood lamps were optional on Trucks, Vans, and Broncos from 1980 -1986. This lamp is in very good survivor condition as shown.
This is a very nice original unit.
